Pretty Autumn Wedding
Primghar Bell- One of the prettiest weddings of the
season took place at high noon on Wednesday, October 5th, when
Miss Lena A. Horstmann and Mr. Lorenz Braunschweig were united in
marriage at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick
Horstmann. The impressive double ring ceremony was performed by
Rev. A. H. Franke of Calumet. During the playing of Lohengrin's
Wedding March, with Mrs. A. H. Franke at the piano, the bridal
party took their places in the parlor, which was beautifully
decorated with white asters and garden flowers. Hattie Horstmann,
sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, and Emil Braunschweig,
brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. Little Doris
Andersen, niece of the bride, carried the rings in two roses. The
bride wore a gown of white satin with veil of tulle and pearls
and carried a shower bouquet of bride's roses. The bridesmaid was
attired in green crepe de chene. The bridegroom wore a suit of
blue serge.
Immediately following the ceremony a sumptuous three-course
dinner was served by the bride's mother to fifty guests. Misses
Alice and Mabel Klink assisted in the serving. Mr. and Mrs.
Braunsschweig left immediately for Chicago and points in Indiana,
where they will spend their honeymoon. Mrs. Braunschweig's
travelling suit was of blue broadcloth, trimmed with beaver.
Both the bride and bridegroom are well and favorably known in
this community. The bride is a young lady of charming personality
and is the second youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dick
Horstmann of this place. The bridegroom, who has been employed in
the county treasurer's office for the past eighteen months, is a
son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Braunschweig, of Peterson. Mr.
Braunschweig recently purchased the J. B. Stamp residence, where
he and his bride will be at home after November first.
Congratulations are extended.

C. N. Cass Dies in Washington
The many old Sutherland friends will learn with much sorrow of
the death of C. N. Cass which occurred at his home in a suburb of
Spokane, Wash., on Monday, October 10th.
Mr. Cass was one of the very early pioneers to locate in this
community, having homesteaded on the place now known as the Frank
Klema farm before the railroad was built through Sutherland. He
was a great lover of fine livestock and was a breeder of
Percheron horses, Shorthorn cattle, and Poland China hogs, also
being about the first one to engage in that business in this
locality.
The Cass family was highly regarded as one of the prominent and
honorable families of the community here. In 1898 they moved to
Washington where they have since resided. The following account
of Mr. Cass' death was taken from the issue of Tuesday, October
10th, of the Spokane, Wash., Spokesman-Review: "C.
N. Cass, a retired stockman, died suddenly at his home at Four
Lakes yesterday morning. He was born in New Hampshire, July 25,
1844. He came from Iowa to Spangle, Wash., in 1899, at which
place he had a blooded stock ranch. He is survived by his widow,
of Four Lakes; a daughter Mrs. E. T. Smith, of Arlington, Wash.,
and a granddaughter, Miss Clara Olsen, who is teaching school at
Warden, Wash. The body is at the New England."

Thirtieth Wedding Anniversary Celebrated
On Thursday evening, October 20th, Mesdames Chas. Streufert,
Chris Wede and Math. Noethe were hostesses at a surprise in honor
of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Noethe, at their home five and a half miles
northeast of Sutherland, where eighty relatives and friends
gathered to help celebrate their thirtieth, or pearl wedding
anniversary.
The evening was spent in dancing and playing games. At midnight a
bountiful supper was served at two long tables tastefully
decorated with pink and white roses. The "bride and
groom" received many beautiful and useful gifts. The crowd
departed at a late hour, after extending their best wishes, also
desiring that such happy occasions could happen more often than
once every thirty years.
