McKenzie Post, G.A.R., will be represented in the state
encampment, G.A.R., at Sioux City by Comrades Chas. Jones, Oliver
Lias, George Mennig and Doc Van Epps.
There were something like 150 slogans offered in the slogan
contest. The prize winner was Newman S. Lyle of Floyd township,
who offered the slogan, "Sheldon (Star) of the Big
Four." The second choice was "Backward Never, Sheldon
Forward," entered by H.F. Thompson of Sanborn, and the third
choice was "5,000 by 1920", by Phil Babcock.
