Miss Lillian Gardner, who is soon to be wedded to Prof. Smitz of
Minnesota, was tendered a "shower" at the Reynoldson
home last Thursday afternoon by the ladies of her acquaintance. A
very enjoyable afternoon was spent.
It is understood that E. R. Wood, ex-clerk of court, who is in
the Cherokee asylum, will be returned to Primghar in a few days
and be cared for by his family. This experiment was tried a few
months ago with but poor success and it is doubted whether Mr.
Wood's mental faculties have been sufficiently improved to
warrant this move again.

Powell - Soeth
The ceremony which united in marriage Everett O. Powell and Miss
Christina B. Soeth was performed in the parlors of the Hotel
Lewis in Cherokee at two o'clock on the afternoon of Wednesday,
August 17th, Rev. L. A. Blue officiating. Mr. and Mrs. T. W.
Powell, parents of the groom, and Miss Edna Sheldon were the only
witnesses. The bride and groom took the evening train for Alta,
where they will visit relatives of the bride for a short time
before returning to Sutherland, where they will make their home.
The groom has grown up in the vicinity of Sutherland and
therefore needs no introduction. He is an industrious and highly
respected young man. The bride has been employed in Sheldon's
store for two years and in that time has made many friends and
proved herself to be a young lady of sterling worth and
character. The young couple have many friends, who wish them
unbounded success and happiness as they journey through life
together. Mr. and Mrs. Powell will, for the present, reside with
the groom's parents, and Mrs. Powell will continue her work in
the store.
