E. J. Kinkead, station agent at Larrabee, died on the 23rd. He
was operated on four days before for appendicitis. He came to
Larrabee from Gaza about two months ago, having been agent there
for a time. He was a married man but his wife was on a visit to
her parents at Clifton, Kas., and did not get to Larrabee until
the day after her husband died. The remains were taken to his
former home at Clifton.

It is one of the most pleasant things one can imagine for a
teacher to learn of the success of a pupil who has been at one
time in his charge. We have heard at various times of the unusual
success of a young man whom we once had the honor of teaching.
The lad had difficulty in persuading his father that he needed a
high school course of study, but finally got consent to stay
awhile longer in school. This sort of persuasion was kept up
until the young man finished the literary and later the medical
course of study of the state university. He proved to be one of
the best students ever at Iowa City, and he earned a fellowship
in the medical department. His further course is indicated by the
following clipping from the Reinbock Standard: Dr. Henry Albert
returned from Iowa City Wednesday. He will leave in about ten
days for Vienna, Austria, where he will remain for three months,
taking special work in medicine and surgery. His father will
accompany him and visit the scenes of his boyhood days.
