Emory Barrager of this city and Edgar Culver of Sibley have
started a drug business at Matlock.
Jack Rogers, a machine expert in the employ of E.G. Corwin, of
Sheldon, was in George last Saturday for the purpose of fixing up
a threshing machine for Harm Wilemsen.
There is a new chef on duty in Will Van Campen's restaurant. He
is Thomas Zimmerman, a cook of large experience. His specialites
are pastry and oysters.

The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Runger died last Thursday evening.
The sad death of Walter DeKraay was mourned by his many friends
here.
Born - To Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Boysen, on Saturday, September
28th, a son. On Wednesday, October 2d, to Mr. and Mrs. S. C.
Campbell, a daughter.
Mrs. Fannie Cook of Monmouth, Iowa, is here on a visit to her
sister, Mrs. Fletcher Boyd.
Marriage licenses have been issued to Amel Gebirt and Aug. Lemke;
Geo. Landgarbe and Annie M. Mulhouse.

Frank Oldenberg returned from Savannah Tuesday where he went to
attend the funeral of his brother.
The divorce case of Bull vs. Bull and the damage of Bull vs.
Masters are set for Saturday. The latter case is for damages for
alienation of plaintiff's wife's affections.
Divorces were given Christine Thonnsen, Ida Walling, Nancy J.
Heckert, against their husbands.

October 17, 1895
The insane commissioners met last Friday on the case of Julius
Manley. This unfortunate person has been at the insane asylum at
Independence, but has returned as cured some time since. His
mania has returned however and it was deemed best to send him
away again and the sheriff took him Saturday night.
Tuesday night the sheriff took young Wm. Boughman of Summit
township to the State Industrial or reform school at Eldora,
under a warrant issued by Judge Wakefield. The little scamp is
twelve years old and had set a fire that burned several grain
stacks for Philip Brundage.
Miss Josie Kass of Bellevue, is here on a visit with her sister,
Mrs. F. X. Beck.
Mr. and Mrs. Mat Malget are the proud parents of a bright baby
girl born last week.
Mrs. Sarah Trenton died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. S.
Stell, here Sunday forenoon, the remains were taken to her former
home, Union, Iowa, for interment, where she will be laid to rest
beside those of her husband.
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Loucks were compelled to part with their
youngest child, a babe of nine weeks, Sunday evening. The little
one has been a sufferer since birth. The funeral services
conducted by the Rev. A. Herron were held at the home on Monday
afternoon.
[?] parties are trying to make [?] of the fact that C. R. West
had his name changed some years ago. He and his brother found
that with so many others of the same name in their neighborhood
much confusion arose, [generally?] in small matters, and
consequently they went before the proper [?] and had their names
legally changed to West. And that is all there is of the matter.

Addie E. Bull vs. A. A. Bull was a slimy divorce case and it
attracted a large concourse of witnesses who were ready to laugh
at all the nastiness that was developed. A decree of divorce was
granted to the plaintiff and the defendant was for the present
given custody of the children, subject to the further order of
the court; plaintiff was also given $700 alimony, and defendant
was ordered not to dispose of his property until the alimony was
paid.
Maria Roden got default against her husband in the attachment
suit over the English Kitchen at Sanborn.
Rev. A. Herron was in attendance at the funeral of Mrs. Sarah
Trentor at Granville on Tuesday morning.
Mrs. Jas. Loucks of Greenville, Clay county, attended the funeral
of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Louck's child Tuesday.

Matt Welter is the proud pa of a bright baby girl born last week.
Congratulations to all concerned.
Max Thurman went to Waterloo Monday to attend the wedding of his
daughter Miss Mary.
John Mittlemeier and Miss Katie Stallman were united in the bonds
of matrimony at the Catholic church here Tuesday forenoon. We
hope that their life may be one of sunshine.
Mrs. Ellen Long of Marcus is the guest of her niece, Mrs. F. E.
Paine.
O. S. Colby, an uncle of the editor [Frank Bethel], arrived
Tuesday from Burchard, Nebraska, to remain during the winter and
may stay permanently.

October 31, 1895
A marriage license was issued by the clerk of the court to W. I.
Dilger and Edith G. Windus.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Runger's only child died Monday, aged about two
years. The parents have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
The young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Glessener was claimed by
the angel of death, Friday, after a lingering and painful illness
of many months. Sunday afternoon the remains were laid to rest in
the quiet cemetery at Hospers. The bereaved family have the
sympathy of all in their hour of sorrow.
A little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Larsen died at nine
o'clock last evening of bronchitis, aged eighteen months. The
child had been sick the past two months. The funeral services
will be held at the Norwegian Lutheran church tomorrow (Friday)
afternoon at 1:00 o'clock.
H. C. Eichmeier was at Orange City Friday to whistle his clarinet
for a ball.
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Koolbeck of Hospers were visiting their
daughter, Mrs. Wells Sutherland, and family Tuesday.
"Hon" C. M. Davis and Jim Metcalf of Primghar were
Times callers for a brief time Tuesday. The former gentleman was The
Times' first typo, when C. G. Bundy was editor in chief, and
he helped in hauling The times plant from Primghar to Paullina in
a lumber wagon. "Chet" knows a thing or two about
Paullina's early history and delights in reminiscences of the
reign of "Toper Thomas" and "Samantha."
Married in Cherokee, Ia., October 17, 1895, M. C. Fairweather and
Tina Fraser, Rev. W. L. Ferris officiating. Mr. Fairweather has
purchased a meat market in Paullina. They went immediately to
their new home after the wedding. Many friends will wish them
success and happiness as they begin the journey of life together.
