AGED SOUTH END WOMAN IS DEAD
Mrs. B. G. Young of Kansas Street Dies. Had been Invalid Since
Suffering Paralytic Stroke Two Years ago
At Death's Door for Week.
Yesterday afternoon at about 5 o'clock occurred the death of Mrs.
B. G. Young at her home on Kansas street following a lingering
illness. She had suffered a paralytic stroke about two years ago
since which time she had been an invalid. During the past week
when she is thought to have suffered another stroke, she is said
to have been at death's door. She was 79 years of age.
Native of Indiana.
Sarah H. Surber was born in Indiana October 9, 1837, where she
made her home for a number of years. In 1854 she came to Iowa
with her family, settling near Sigourney where she was united in
marriage with B. G. Young. To this union eleven children were
born, eight of whom survive. About five years ago the family
moved to this city, settling in South Muscatine, where they had
since made their home. Besides her husband, the decedent is
survived by three daughers, Mrs. Mary Ulin of Hedrick, Iowa; Mrs.
Parlee Hammersley of Bladensburg, Iowa and Mrs. May Glandon of
this city and five sons, John Young of Oskaloosa, Frank, Delmar,
Arthur and Thomas all of this city. Two sisters, Mrs. Vina
Jaquinot of Ottumwa and Mrs. Martha Ritchie of Council Bluffs and
two brothers, George and William Surber both of Hedrick, also
survive. The funeral services are announced to be held tomorrow
afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
