COUNTRY CLUB NOTES
Mrs. G. A. Anderson is the winner in the tennis tournament at Oak Hill Country Club, she having defeated Ella Houghton yesterday in the finals. The scores were 6-4, 6-4, 8-6. Mrs. Anderson took the first and third sets. Tuesday, open day, was attended by ladies from Atlantic, Harlan, Creston and Corning. There were 110 guests for dinner, which was served at 12:30 o'clock and more arrived during the afternoon for bridge and golf. Winner in golf were Mesdames Reynolds, Richardson, Bartle and Wills, all of Creston. They were given prizes for low score, putting contest, driving and "secret hole" respectively. Bridge prizes were also given, Mrs. M. E. Fisher receiving first prize.

THE WEATHER
The past week has brought forth several gentle rains upon this county, notably Friday and Monday. Days have been fairly warm, though not hot, and nights have been chilly. Low point for the week was reached Tuesday morning, when the thermometer registered 60 at 8 o'clock. Saturday afternoon was hottest, with 93 as the record.

WILL HOLD REUNION
The member of the Franklin families will hold their sixth annual family reunion here at Chautauqua park.

LOUISA E. LATHROP DEAD
Louisa E. Lathrop, 72, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 1:30 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. E. Robinson, 701 Reed St., from heart trouble. Mrs. Lathrop's health had been greatly impaired for the last two years, yet her last sickness lasted only two weeks. Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Christian church, at 10 a.m. Rev. Ira Carney conducted the services. Friends who acted as pallbearers were L. D. Powell, M. L. Stewart, Wilbur Cozad, J. B. Adams, Carl Rapp and C. E. Stout. The remains were taken to Manning for interment.

Deceased was born at Salem, Iowa, March 6, 1855, and was the daughter of Wm. B. and Susanna Hockett. She was married at Audubon March, 1881, to Calvin W. Lathrop. Mr. Lathrop died Aug. 29, 1891, at North Platte, Neb. Mrs. Lathrop has made her home in Red Oak for the past 17 years. Surviving are one son and two daughters, as follows: Clyde W. Lathrop, Marshfield, Wis.; Mrs. A. H. Tate, Rossie, Iowa; and Mrs. G. E. Robinson, Red Oak; also two brothers and two sisters, John T. and G. W. Hockett, of Manning; Mrs. C. E. Weston of Ames and Mrs. A. W. Dales, of Harlan.

JOHN H. LARSON DEAD
John H. Larson, 82, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 12:40 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lee Erickson, in Stanton, from infirmities due to his advanced years, following sickness of five weeks. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Mission church, of which deceased was a member. Rev. J. A. Axelson will conduct the services. Interment will be in Red Oak cemetery. Deceased was born Feb. 7, 1845, in Sweden, and was married there Nov. 9, 1874, to Slina Anderson. They came to this county May 1, 1882, and settled on a farm. A few years ago they retired and moved into Red Oak. Mrs. Anderson died March 1 of his year. Surviving are the following children: Mrs.Bernard Peterson, Andrew Larson, and Mrs. Albert Julian of Red Oak; Mrs. Lee Erickson, Stanton, and Axel Larson, Stennett. At the time THE SUN went to press further particulars regarding the funeral could not be obtained.
