DEATHS

Mrs. P.W. Greenlee

Grandma Greenlee died last evening at her home in Glenwood, after an illness of several weeks, resulting from a severe cold that developed into pneumonia. The funeral will be held tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at two o’clock, and she will be buried beside her husband in the Glenwood cemetery. Her maiden name was Caroline Kidwell, and she was born December 16, 1825, near Knoxville, Tenn. Her father was a Baptist minister, a large land owner, and a type of the large plantation man of the period. He had a family of sixteen children, of whom the last survivor is a half sister of Mrs. Greenlee, who lives in Texas, and is now 101 years of age. She joined the Baptist Church in early life, and has lived a consistent Christian life worthy of emulation. She bore bravely, the sufferings of her last illness, and retained strength and consciousness to the end. She married P.W. Greenlee in 1849, and shortly after the war, they moved to Venango County, Penn. In August, 1871, they came to Sidney, Ia., and some fifteen years ago to Glenwood, where they lived to the end of their days. Mr. Greenlee died five years ago. Of their family of seven children, four survive-T.C., in Lincoln, Neb., and Mary E., John H., and R.W. in Glenwood.
