MRS. R.H. COFFEEN

Bertha E. Adams was born in Knox County, Nebraska, July 21, 1881. She passed out of this life from Council Bluffs February 28, 1914. She came with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo C. Adams to Glenwood in May 1888. Here, Mr. Adams remained until March 1912, being employed first as carpenter at the Institution and later on the farm two miles north of Glenwood. The deceased was educated in the Glenwood schools, though health conditions made it necessary for to discontinue her high school work a few months before graduation. Later, she was employed as teacher at the Institution and was graduated from the nurse's department. In January, 1904, she was united in marriage to Mr. Royal H. Coffeen, and removed at once to Malvern, which was the place of her residence until a few months prior to her death. To this union, there was born one child. Lila, now five and a half years old, who with her husband and her father and mother survive. There are also four brothers, Floyd, Guy Stoddard, and Fay, and one sister, Mrs. P.S. Moon of Glenwood. Mrs. Coffeen espoused the cause of Christianity in December 1896, was baptized into the Baptist Church of Glenwood on December 12, 1896, a relation which existed until she was called to her home eternal. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon, March 2, at the Glenwood Baptist Church, Rev. A.C. Hageman officiating.
