George Harrison ORR was born in Monroeville, Huron County, Ohio on January 19,1841. He was the son of James and Martha ORR.
Mr. ORR was married to Miss Catherine Grey, March 12, 1862. In 1879, they movedto Madison County, Iowa, and settled on a farm in Scott Township. Here they remaineduntil 1905, when they retired and moved to Winterset.
Mr. & Mrs. ORR were the parents of seven children, all of whom are living:Mrs. A. L. FOSTER, of Denver, Colorado; Will ORR, of Madison County; Mrs. T. E. FEELEY,of Denver, Colorado; Frank ORR, of St. Paul, Minnesota; Mrs. M. R. FOSTER, of MadisonCounty; Harry ORR, of Colbran, Colorado; and Robert ORR, of St. Paul, Minnesota.
Mrs. ORR departed this life on December 23, 1918, about six years after they celebratedtheir golden wedding anniversary.
Mr. ORR was made a Mason in Bucyrus Lodge No. 139 at Bucyrus, Ohio, in 1872. he was admitted to the Eastern Star Lodge No. 43, A.F. and A.M., on April 2, 1915. He united with the Methodist Church of this city during the year 1921 and enjoyedattending all of the services. He was a man of excellent health and ability, consideringhis advanced years. He always prided himself in taking part in the social and politicalaffairs of the county. Having been a man of this character, he will be greatly missedby all who know him.
Mr. ORR departed this life on November 2, 1922, at the age of 81 years, 9 monthsand 14 days. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church, November 6th at 2:30p.m., conducted by Rev. D. J. Shenton. Interment was in the Winterset Cemetery,in charge of the Masonic Order.
