George SCHNELLBACHER of Webster Township, was wearing a new fur hat which was made of opossum fur, which he himself had trapped, killed, tanned and finished.

The Winterset Municipal Light Plant is still being operated on wood as the coal strike continues.

Joe KIRBY resigned as the city marshall to go to farming. Martin Casteel was appointed to replace him in that position.

David BRITTAIN was elected President of the Madison County Farm Bureau at the annual meeting held on December 13th.

The farm home of Mr. & Mrs. F. B. KLINGMAN in Douglas Township was destroyed by fire on last Wednesday.

Dr. C. E. PORTER of Colfax has moved to Winterset to start the practice of medicine here.

The farm known as the John BROWN quarter section, in Douglas Township, south of the West Star Church, sold to Walter BENJAMIN for $300.00 per acre. It is a near record high in this community.
