Thomas LAFEE, formerly a resident of this place and at one time an assistant marshal, committed suicide at Collins, Missouri on December 23rd. No cause for his rash act is given other than that he had been in poor health for the past year and this had probably been the course of his despondency.
Married: Thursday evening, December 24th, at 6 o'clock, at the home of William LYDDON and wife, in south Stuart, their daughter, Ina L. LYDDON to Everett E. HOSCHSTETLER, from south of Dexter.
A very quiet, yet pretty wedding occurred at the home of Mr. & Mrs. James CLIFTON in Ohio Township, on Wednesday, December 30th, on which occasion, Zella M. CLIFTON and Melvin J. DAVIS were united in marriage.
Clanton Valley: Isaac SMITH underwent a surgical operation for the cancer on his lip.
Patterson: Mr. & Mrs. Jim ETCHISON are rejoicing over the arrival of a fine baby boy at their home.
Wednesday, December 30th, their was a double wedding at the Baptist parsonage. B. B. FINNEY was married to Maggie M. PALMER and Carey PALMER was married to Lulu SHAVER. Rev. P. H. MCDOWELL officiated.

St. Charles: The St. Charles physicians were called to Truro on Monday to assist Dr. HUTCHINSON to amputate a limb. The victim being Samuel NICHOL, who has been a confirmed invalid for many years.
The Madisonian of last week contained an accurate account of the tragic death of C. F. WOOD. His funeral occurred on Sunday afternoon.
East Peru: A son of M. MORGAN, died in the hospital at Des Moines and was brought to Peru for burial last week.
Uncle Billy RHYNO, who spent several months here and at times was thought to be near death, returned to his home in Colorado, where he died soon after arriving.
Barney: Grandma REASONER died on December 24th at the ripe old age of 86 years. The funeral was held from the Church of Christ, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Peru Cemetery beside her husband.
Fairview: A marriage on Thursday evening, December 31st at the home of the bride's parents, Miss Blanch LONG to W. A. BROOKER, Rev. NICHOL of Van Meter officiating.
