Obituary: Rebecca E. (Ellen) BEALL was born in Morgan County, Illinois on April27, 1829, being the daughter of Richard and Jemima BEALL. She united with the BaptistChurch in 1843. In 1855, she emigrated with her parents to Madison County and unitedwith the Baptist Church of this place at its organization in 1856. On May 25th,1875, she was married to Gideon MCKIBBAN, who survives her. Her father, RichardBEALL died on January 17, 1884. Her mother is still living, being 96 years old. The remaining surviving relatives are two brothers, Edward and Leonard BEALL, andtwo sisters, Mrs. Charity MATTHEWS and Mrs. Suzie HILL. All of these, except LeonardBEALL of Cowley County, Kansas, were present at her death, which occurred on Saturday,July 24, 1897, at 7 P.M. (burial was at the Winterset Cemetery)

A baby boy came on Sunday, August 1st, to brighten the home of Mr. & Mrs. JohnMARTIN.

John LATHRUM, a well known farmer of South Township, died the first of this week,of typhoid fever. (burial at the Union Chapel South Cemetery, Dallas County)

William GRAY, the son of Mr. & Mrs. A. S. GRAY of this place, was killed by thecars at Pleasant Hill, Missouri last Monday. The remains were brought here for burial,arriving last night by way of Peru and the funeral was held this forenoon from thehome of his father. A son of the deceased accompanied the remains from Missouri. He leaves a wife and several children. (burial at the Winterset Cemetery)

Marion TROTTER was arrested at Hanley and charged with threatening the life of hiswife. He was brought before Justice KOON, who fixed his bond at $200.00, which hegave and was subsequently released.

The child of Mr. & Mrs. Frank HOCKENBERRY, of Jackson Township, was buried Sunday.

Mr. & Mrs. Joe KIRBY are the proud parents of a baby boy, born on Sunday, the1st.

Mr. Henry WEHRKAMP, of Jefferson Township, who has been taking treatment at the hospitalfor the insane at Clarinda, was able to return home last week, having benefited inmind and health.

Earlham: J. E. CONRAD and wife are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby boy, whichmade its appearance last Friday evening.

Peru: Invitations are out announcing the marriage of Miss Mata JOHNSON to Mr. HarryHIRSHMAN, to take place on the 11th.

Kasson: Mother ABBOTT died on Sunday afternoon. The funeral will take place fromthe home of her son-in-law, Amos JACOBS, near Kasson. Her remains will be buriedtomorrow at the Moon Cemetery.

Last Wednesday, Robert NEAL and Frank JOHNSON of Scott Township, got into a disputeover some money matter and their disagreement lead to a fight in which JOHNSON gotthe worst of it. NEAL was arrested and fined $5.00 and costs.

St. Charles: The 8 month old son of Mr. M. A. & Mrs. Nellie COLLINS, from nearHanley, died of cholera infantum on Sunday night and was buried in the St. CharlesCemetery on Monday afternoon.

Mrs. M. J. NEAL, widow of the late Cornelius NEAL, died suddenly of heat failureat her home in Warren County, 4 miles east of St. Charles, on Friday evening. Herfuneral too place on Sunday at the M. E. Church, by Rev. EWAN. Her remains werelaid to rest by the side of her late husband in the St. Charles Cemetery.

John LATHRUM, of South Township, died at this home near Elm Grove Church and wasinterred at the Union Chapel Cemetery (South) on last Tuesday by his comrades ofthe John MILLER Post G.A.R. He was about 52 years of age and leaves a wife and 2sons.

Mrs. HUTCHINS, wife of the Rev. Mr. HUTCHINS, who lives in the vicinity of St. Charles,died the first of this week and was buried yesterday. She was a lady of about 40years of age.

H. TOBIN and Miss Victoria (Lillie V.M.) Eppard were married last Saturday night,with Judge WILKINSON officiating.

A 13-year-old boy named BELL, the son of G. W. BELL, died yesterday from the effectsof a rattlesnake's bite which he received last Monday while working on the farm ofJim RHYNO, of South Township. He was buried today.

Monroe Township: Died on Tuesday, August 3rd, the infant child of Mr. & Mrs.Almond PALMER.

East Peru: Mr. E. (Edmond) Simmons and wife (Matilda) have a son.

Douglas Township: Dave HAMNER and wife (Lina) rejoice over the birth of a baby girl.
