Marriage: On Monday, Jan. 20th, by Justice F. H. EVANS, at his residence, Mr. John BROWN and Miss Mattie ARNOLD.

Mrs. TRACY Sr. of Douglas Township, received a stroke of paralysis last Saturday, but at last report was not considered to be in immediate danger from its effects. Mrs. TRACY, who is 94 years of age, is one of the oldest, if not the oldest inhabitants of this county.
Mr. Samuel BETTS is about the same age, both having been born in 1801.

Just as we go to press, the news comes of the death at 2 o'clock this morning, of Mr. Hugh RUTH, of Lincoln Township, aged 88 years. Mr. RUTH came to this vicinity in 1875 from Johnson County, (Iowa) and made his home in Winterset. He leaves two sons and four daughters to mourn his loss, of these, his son Charles and daughter Miss Emma, reside here, and the other son, Alex, of Muscatine, has arrived since his death. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock next Thursday at the Baptist Church. (He is buried at the McDonald-Chase Cemetery in Douglas Township)

Mrs. Mary LENAN, mother of Mrs. Martin MCNAMARA, of Union Township, with whom she made her home, died on Thursday evening, January 23rd, at 7 o'clock. She was supposed to be over 100 years old. The remains will be taken to Des Moines for burial.

Joe HARPER'S little 3 year old boy was buried Saturday at the Beem Cemetery, with Rev. C. HOOVER preaching the funeral sermon.

Marriage licenses: W. NORRIS, 27 years and Lottie CHILCOTE, 19 years.

Miss Bessie GEORGE departed this life Saturday, January 25th, at 1:30 p.m. Miss GEORGE had been a constant sufferer for more than 20 years, her last trouble being consumption. She was 35 years of age. Funeral services were held at Friends Church in Earlham and burial took place at the Bear Creek Cemetery.
