A young man named GILLAM, whose home is in Walnut Township, near Peru, was broughtto town last Friday to be examined by the insane commissioners. Like many lunatics, his afflicted mind seemed fixed on religious matters and during the several hoursthat he was in town, kept up a continual harangue to those about him to repent andbe saved. He was pronounced insane and was sent to the asylum at Clarinda that afternoon,in the charge of Vance WALKER. His father stated that he had noticed that his son'sactions had been a little peculiar for several days, but that he did not become violentlyinsane until the day before. He received a sunstroke some time ago, an also hadan accident while at work at Council Bluffs, which may account for his derangement. The unfortunate young man is 22 years old.

On the way to the asylum he took a vicious spell and at one time very nearly overpoweredMr. WALKER and John WEAVER, and when they finally got him to the asylum, it tookhalf a dozen men to get him into a straight jacket. The asylum authorities thinkthey can restore him to reason.
