Rev. A. SAYER, of South Township, has gone to his last home, sorrowing for thoseleft behind, but rejoicing to receive the rewards for a life spent for his master.

Mrs. Ida EWING SANFORD, died at Des Moines at half past six o'clock on Tuesday morning.Her remains were brought to Winterset for interment. She was born and raised here.

Mr. William T. FRANCIS, of Douglas Township, and Miss Ettie M. THOMAS, were marriedat the residence of the bride's parents. Mr. & Mrs. L. G. THOMAS, of MadisonTownship, on Monday, October 31st. The Rev. A. H. CHASE officiating.

J. R. NEWELL, of Lincoln Township, one of the old citizens of Madison County, diedat his home Thursday morning of last week, after a long illness.

Mr. D. P. PETERSON, of Grand River Township, died very suddenly last Friday evening.He worked in the field all day gathering corn. When he came to the house in the evening,he remarked that he did not feel well and ate no supper, but went directly to bed,probably about 6 o'clock. A little after 8 o'clock he was found dead in his bed.The body had already became cold and rigid. The remains were taken to Des Moinesfor burial.

We learned that a man by the name of M. B. FOSTER, who a year or two ago lived inMonroe Township, in this county, recently murdered a man in Taylor County. The murderedman was on his way back from Missouri where he had been working with his team onsome new railroad. FOSTER evidently killed him for his money and other property,as he put a weight to the corpse and sunk it in a stream, took the team and startedwest. After the body was found, it was noticed that FOSTER had left the neighborhood.a pursuing party was soon organized and he was overcome and brought back.
