Thursday evening the graduating class called upon Prof. MOWATT
and surprised him with a handsome silver goblet. Miss Eva COMP
made the presentationspeech and all enjoyed themselves.
L. F. SMITH, the banker, has sold his residence property to John
BROWN of Lincoln (twp.), who will move to town.
TULLIS Brothers is now the name of the firm on the southeast
corner of the square. They not only propose to keep a first-class
meat market, but they will also carry a full line of groceries
and will deliver meat and groceries to any part of the city. They
have secured the services of E. F. CONNORAN as salesman, whose
good natured way makes him a popular favorite. The firm is
composed of A. L. TULLIS and Si TULLIS and they propose to do a
fair and square trade and merit a share of the patronage of the
public.
T. J. HUDSON has purchased of M. R. TIDRICK the three lots on
which Mr. H. has lived for some time. T. J. gets a lovely
property and a nice location for a home.
Trains on the narrow gauge leave Osceola for the north at 5:45,
New Virginia, 7:00, St. Charles 8:35 and arrive at Rock Island
crossing at 9:35 a.m. Going south they have the crossing at 11:00
a.m., St. Charles at 12:15, New Virginia at 2:00 and arrive at
Osceola at 3:10 p.m.
