The Larchwood Leader
Larchwood, Lyon Co., IA
July 11, 1929
The Larchwood Town Council contracted to buy a fire truck from
Municipal Supply Company of Marshalltown at a cost of $2778. The
town will invest $1200 and the balance will be raised from
farmers and landowners at a rate of $25 for each set of
buildings. A territory of six miles square will be served. Each
one paying his share would then be a member of the community
protective association. Those who do not care to join, should
they have need of a fire truck, will be charged a service fee,
probably $50.
On Tuesday, July 9, 1929, at high noon, Miss Naomi Mae Hotvet,
and Mr. Floyd Hohman, both of Larchwood, were united in marriage.
The bride has been teaching in one of the schools in Lyon county.
The groom has completed a business course at Nettleton's
Commercial College. The couple will reside on the Hohman farm
west of Larchwood.
