The game between Inwood and Larchwood last Saturday was a very
interesting and closely contested game. Extreme confidence in the

victory to perch on the boys in maroon.

to see him leave, but their best wishes go with him to his new

view the remains of Mrs. James Tracy, who was found dead in bed
in the morning of the same day. He pronounced death due to heart

Derr - Hartenhoff
A very pretty wedding occurred Thursday, April 28th, at high noon
at Mr. Hartenhoff's whien his daughter Dora was united in
marriage to Mr. George Derr of Wakonda, S.D. by the Rev. Charles
H. Sweard, pastor of the Larchwood Methodist Episcopal church.
The bride was very tastefully attired in a pretty gown made of
champagne. A small number of invited guests were assembled in the
parlor when the ceremony was performed. Those present besides the
family were Mr. and Mrs. Paulzine and son Fred, Miss Alice Hogan,
Mrs. Tumposky, Mrs. Weber and daughter Josie, and the Misses
Seward. After the congratulations had been said the company sat
down to an elaborate and bountiful wedding dinner. The guests
began to depart about three o'clock, having wished the happy
bride and groom much happiness and success in life. Mr. Derr is a
barber in Wakonda, S.D., fifty miles southwest of Sioux Falls. He
and his bride left Larchwood on the evening train for Wakonda
where they expected to arrive Friday and begin housekeeping in a
home already furnished by the groom. The best wishes of their
friends follow them.

One of the most pleasant social events of the season was a
reception given in honor of Dr. Lewis at the office rooms, second
floor Bank Building by Roy McGilvra, Ole Severson and G.A.
Wickwire. Twenty-two were present. Progressive dominoes were
played, Herman Mund winning the prize for gentlemen and Mina
McGilvra that for ladies, John Cauley won the consolation prize,
a box of dominoes which was given him that he might learn the
game. A fruit lunch was served. Carnations were the favors.
Granville Record: -- Wm. Haney returned to Larchwood,
Iowa, Wednesday, after a stay on his farm in the Deepriver
region..... D. W. Burns lost a valuable horse in crossing the
meadow beyond Cut Bank Creek one day last week. Mr. Handy was
with him and they succeeded in getting the other horse out.
Messrs. Burns and Handy were on their way to the farm of S.D.
Dunning when the accident happened, Mr. Burns intending to trade
his two light driving horses for a team pf heavy farm horses
owned by Mr. Dunning. After the accident the genial Dan continued
his trip and made the deal, paying cash in place of the horse
which was drowned.
The Inwood High School nine came over last Saturday to cross bats
with the local High School nine. It was thought at first that our
boys were up for another defeat, on account of the size of the
visiting team, who were much larger than our boys. The first
inning Inwood ran in two scores and Larchwood a "goose
egg," but as the game progressed Larchwood outplayed them
and at the end of the 9th the score stood 10 to 5 in favor of
Larchwood. Several good plays were made on both sides. Dodge and
Hewlett umpired the gamem to the satisfaction of all. Inwood
brought a large number of "rooters" along with them but
after the 3rd inning they could not be heard. This makes a game
apiece and another game is looked for in the near future.
