OBITUARY.


Joseph Edward Dixon, son of Isaac and Nancy Dixon, was born near Chariton, Iowa, May 10, 1855. He died at his home in Russell after a few days illness August 9, 1936, at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 29 days.

He was one of a family of ten children.

He was united in marriage to Lizzie Dugdale on April 30, 1883 [sic 1882.] To this union eight children were born, namely: May, Rosy, William, Gladys, Arthur, Frank, Earl and Charley.

The wife and Rosy and William preceded him in death. After the death of his wife, Mr. Dixon lived for a time with the children. Later, until his death, he and his brother lived in Russell.

About the age of fifteen, he accepted Christ and became a member of the Christian church in Chariton.

Besides his family, he leaves three brothers and one sister, George of Osceola, Iowa; Eli of Emerson, Nebr.; Mrs. J. M. Beals of Earlham, Iowa; and Frank of Russell; a number of grandchildren and many friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from the Woodman Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clark in charge. Burial was made in the Russell cemetery.
