THOMAS D. GRAY
Thomas D.Gray, son of James M. and Hannah Gray, was born October
20, 1865, in the Arnold neighborhood in Lucas county, Iowa, and
died February 7th, 1931 in Chariton, aged 65 years, 3 months and
17 days. He lived in the neighborhood where he was born until
about 21 years of age, when he went to Fremont county, Iowa,
where he spent some time and was married there in 1890 to Miss
Lizzie Alley.
To this union five children were born, Harold and Wanda, dying in
early childhood. He is survived by three children, Mrs. Sylvia
Pearson of Sidney, Iowa; Merle Gray whose last address was
Stratton, Colorado; and Mrs. Helen Stewart, of Ames, Iowa. He is
also survived by five brothers and two sisters: Wm. Gray of
Riverside, California; Joseph, of Seibert, Colorado; James G.,
Stephen D. and Seymour E., Mrs. Martha Durham, all of Lacona; and
Mrs. Sarah Hayden, of Lincoln, Kansas.
Mr. and Mrs. Gray moved shorly after their marriage to a farm
near Lacona, and later to Lacona where they resided for some
time, moving to Colorado about 24 years ago. He was stricken with
paralysis about five years ago and has been an invalid since that
time, bearing his illness patiently until death came as a welcome
release from suffering. Funeral services were held Monday,
February 9th at the Methodist church at Lacona, conducted by
Edler Robinson, with burial at the Arnold cemetery.
