SOCIETY EVENTS
MISS EVA ROBERTSON was pleasantly surprised, Tuesday evening, by
her scholars. They presented her with a solid silver souvenir
spoon as a remembrance of the event.
The scholars of the eighth grade pleasantly surprised their
teacher, MISS MAUD ABERNATHY, Tuesday evening. She was presented
with a nice solid silver spoon as a token of their esteem.
Refreshments were brought and served by the scholars.
JOHN GOLTRY, of Russell, celebrated his 78th birthday yesterday.
A number of his children, his brother, J.F. GOLTRY, and wife
gathered at his home and did honor to the occasion. He was the
recipient of many messages from members of the family at a
distance and the day was enjoyed to the full extent.
The "Seniors" gave an elaborate reception Friday
evening, in the basement of the Presbyterian Church. A
four-course dinner was served at six-thirty, by the ladies of the
church to about sixty guests. The rooms were prettily decorated
with their class colors, scarlet and black. After dinner various
kinds of amusements and games made the evening one of social
enjoyment to all.
