On Wednesday night of last week the house and barn belonging to
Martin Anderson of Chariton, with most of the contents were
consumed by fire. The farm is situated just over in Monroe County
and was being occupied by Mr Anderson's son-in-law who was away
when the disaster occured. The insurance on the house had run out
just recently and there was only light insurance on the barn.
