THIS, THAT AND THE OTHER
Rev. J.K. BLACK, former pastor of the U.P. Church at this place,
has removed with his family to California, Branch Co., Mich.
CAL BERGER has taken a homestead in Howard County, Neb., north of
the U.P. Road.
WM. MCDERMED is down in Kansas on a prospecting tour.
Interesting Farm and Grange items appear on the fourth page of
this paper.
HARRY MORGAN is off on a visit to his old home at Morgantown, Pa.
We wouldn't be surprised if he brought back a better half. SOPER
seems to think so, too.
DAY and SON had fresh onions for sale last week. Rather early for
this season.
Washing Machine men are on the rampage...
Rev. MR. MCINTYRE of Osceola, officiated in the absence of Elder
CONRAD at quarterly meeting at the M.E. Church last Sunday.
The RHEEM family of this place will give a concert at Garden
Grove on the 17th inst.
Going in swimming will soon be in order among the boys.
The evening train on the branch now stops at Garden Grove for
supper.
Lacona wants the Indianola road to come to Chariton, and will aid
it to the amount of $20,000
Rev. P.J. SANDEEN, Minister of the Swede Lutheran congregation at
Chariton has gone to Kansas to live.
Fish worms will soon be in demand.
SMITH CRABB, one of our good citizens removes to Louisville, Ky.
Sorry to lose him.
S.W. PIM of Jackson Township has our thanks for items.
Put yourself and manure piles where they will do the most good,
on the garden.
T.R. MOONEY lost nothing by the destruction of POND's egg house
at Burlington. He still buys eggs and butter at the highest
market price.
DAVID and IRVIN, sons of JOHN GRIMES of Whitebreast, and FRANK
LEWIS of this place, started on Monday for Montana Territory.
The Leader has heard from PARISH, the grain buyer. He is at
Marshalltown, Iowa, and at his old tricks...
EDGAR COLLINS who was dangerously scalded by the explosion at
SHORE's Mill in Cedar Township, is slowly improving.

Sheriff HOLMES has appointed J. LEE BROWN, Deputy.
Rev. N.E. CORY baptized two persons in Palmer's lake on Sunday
afternoon.
H.S. GLENN's mother-in-law, MRS. COOK, and two daughters, have
come here to live.
The whooping cough, measles and chicken pox prevail among
juvenile Charitonions.
The parents of the LEWIS brothers are coming here to live.
Prayer meetings are held regularly at the office of Stuart
Brothers in Osceola. Services have been held the past week at the
Baptist Church, Rev. Mr. FISH of Illinois, officiating. Two
persons were immersed Sunday night.
Plenty of maple sugar in market.
ROBERT HANELL, Swede clerk at Braden's, leaves for Chicago this
week to engage in the study of portrait and landscape painting.
He has much skill in that direction.
April 15th and "Winter lingers in the lap of Spring."
