ALLEGED HOLD-UP MEN INDICTED BY EMMETSBURG JURY
EMMETSBURG, Sept. 4 - (Special) - Frank Smith and John Welsh who
are being held in the Emmetsburg jail for county authorities,
were indicted by the Emmet county grand jury this week. These are
the men who are charged with robbing George Groves of Estherville
of $250 cash and a $5,000 diamond stick pin on June 23. They were
captured in Superior, Wis., by the Wisconsin officials and
brought back to Iowa about a month after the robbery. The
prisoners created considerable excitement when they broke jail in
Emmetsburg July 30. Welsh was captured the same evening and Smith
was caught near Ocheyden the following day.
Warner Brothers Lease Emmetsburg Weekly.
EMMETSBURG, Sept. 4 - (Special) - The Palo Alto Reporter
has been leased by C.F. Mayne to Warner brothers who took
possession Sept. 1. The Warner brothers have lived in Emmetsburg
for about two years and were employed by the Palo Alto
Tribune until about two months ago.
