IRVINGTON IS PROUD OF ARMY AND NAVY BOYS
Irvington, Feb. 4There are now Irvington boys in
the Army and Navy in many parts of the world. Wendell Blythe,
born and reared here, is in north Ireland in the 133rd infantry,
34th division, recently sent from Camp Claiborne. He is the
eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Blythe, Dubuque, and a grandson of
Mrs. Nina Schichtl.
Henry and LeRoy, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Scheppman Sr., are in
Army and Navy respectively. Henry, who is at Indianapolis, is an
ambulance driver, and recently wrote of shots for prevention of
yellow fever, which indicates that his company may soon leave
Indiana. LeRoy Scheppman is somewhere on the Pacific.
Donald, second son of Mr. and Mrs. U. B. Frankl, in the naval
reserve, is stationed at a naval air base in Florida. Wesley,
second son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lee, and Raymond, youngest son
of Mrs. Edna Harr, are in the Army somewhere in the South.
Paul, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. James Black, is at Kelly
Field, Tex., and John, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Muehe, was
recently in a southern camp, but has been moved.
Bob and Paul, sons of Mrs. Beda Watson, are in Navy and Army
respectively. Bob has been in the Navy for some years.
Harold, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Sabin, is at Camp
Wolpers, Tex., and Thees, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schnakenberg,
is in camp in Arizona.
Andrew, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Gish, is in the Navy, and is
stationed in Texas. Ted Fisher and Wayne Weaver are at the Great
Lakes Naval Training school.
Donald, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Simeon Leigh, and Condol, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wood, are at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Paul and
Lewis, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Egel, are in Army. Paul at
Ft. Snelling, Minn., and Lewis in a gun factory in Michigan.
Two other Irvington youths in the service are Harold Felter, son
of Mrs. Edw. Ditsworth, and Jos. DeWinter, son of Mrs. Ralph
Lage. When last heard from Felter was still at Hickam Field,
Island of Oahu, where he witnessed the Japanese attack. De Winter
enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
