BURT NEWS.
Mrs. Chas. Peppel is entertaining a sister from
Dolliver.
Mrs. Burton Isenberger and children are visiting relatives in
Minnesota.
Comp Stow is enjoying a visit from a brother in
Oklahoma.
Mrs. Hannah Peck is entertaining her sister, Mrs. Angie Raney of
Minnesota.
Miss Marie Grover visited in Algona Thursday with her sister,
Mrs. Wallace.
Mrs. Richards and daughters from Swea City visited here several
days last week.
Mrs. A. M. Jones was an over Sunday guest at the Myron Schenck
home in Union township.
Misses Elizabeth and Carrie Upton, of Fayette, visited at the H.
A. Whitehill home last week.
Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Miner and family of Algona visited at the
Elmer Hartshorn home last Tuesday.
Chas. Grimes had the misfortune to have three ribs broken one day
last week, when he fell from a haystack.
Mrs. Hulburt is visiting a daughter, Mrs. Chas. Hanna, at Sioux
Falls. Mr. Hanna is in very poor health again.
E. C. Erickson moved his family into the W. H. Smith house, which
the latter purchased of Dr. Clapsaddle.
Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Nafus and their daughter, Sarah, of Nashua are
visiting relatives and friends here this week.
Miss Lillian Mann arrived home on Saturday from Cedar Falls,
where she attended a three months term of school.
D. D. Clapsaddle of Algona assisted Mrs. J. G. Clapsaddle in
moving her household goods to Algona Saturday and Monday.
Chandler Ward of Dakota visited his sister, Mrs. G. C. Giddings,
several days last week before leaving for service in the army.
Misses Warner and Whitney entertained Mrs. Bruce and daughter of
Blue Earth last week. The former is a sister of Mrs. Bruce.
Mrs. John Meinzer and daughters and son, Myron, returned Monday
after a visit at Fort Des Moines with Miss Esther, who is a nurse
at that place.
Miss Hazel Whitehill and guest, Miss Upton, visited at the
Blanchard home in Lone Rock last Thursday. Hazel will teach in
the Lone Rock school this year.
Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Thompson and daughter Helen are visiting at
the home of Harveys sister, Mrs. Earl Girton at Fairfield.
Mr. Thompson is enjoying a vacation.
C. C. Smith, A. J. Trainer and J. G. F. Vogel returned from Des
Moines Saturday where they attended a grocerymans meeting.
They visited with Dr. Clapsaddle while there.
The Donovan house, which is occupied by A. K. Trainer, was
discovered to be on fire last Thursday. The fire alarm was given
and the department arrived in a few moments, but not until the
fire had been extinguished. The fire was started by electric
wires and was out before much damage was done.
