Sarah Kitt Bair
Funeral services were conducted at the house of Elder Wm. B.
Miller of South English. A host of friends and relatives
followed the remains to their resting place in the Williams
Cemetery. She united with the Christian Church in 1887, although
deprived from attending church services for some time on account
of infirmity of age, she still exemplified the Christian virtues
taught us in God's Word in her every day life. Sarah Kitt Bair
was born in Huntington County, Pennsylvania in the year
1820. She was married to John S. Bair March 21, 1836.
To this union were born 16 children, 3 boys and 11 girls.
There were also 68 grandchildren and
37 great-grandchildren. They moved from Pennsylvania to
Illinois in 1850 and from there they emigrated to Iowa in 1865
locating near White Pigeon where they lived until the death of
the husband which occured March 23, 1900. Since that time
she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Charles Dillion,
near South English where she died April 1, 1907, in her 87th
year.
