IOWA TEACHER SLAIN IN HOME
Scott County Authorities Seeking Husband as Murder Suspect
(By Associated Press) DAVENPORT, May 1- Scott county authorities
today were searching for Edward Vance whom they said they
suspected of implication in the killing last night of his wife,
Mrs. Ora Pearl Vance, a school teacher of Buffalo, Ia. Mrs. Vance
was fatally shot when she returned to her home in Buffalo
following a visit to a sick friend and officials took up the
search for her husband, they said, on the assumption he or the
slayer had gained entrance to the home in Mrs. Vance's absence
and attacked upon her return. The Vances had been estranged for
some time. Vance who is a paroled patient from the Mt. Pleasant
hospital for the insane had made repeated attempts to induce his
wife to take him back. He has not been apprehended.
