Aged Resident Dies
Calamar, Ia., Jan 4 -- Thomas McMahon, over ninety years of age,
died during the night. He was a veteran of the Civil War.
Local people
-Mrs. Jennie Wilson is seriously ill at her home on East College
street. The illness was caused by contracting blood poisoning in
her foot.
-Mrs. William Kisor is seriously ill with pneumonia at her home
on South Clark street.
-Herman V. Speidel left Thursday evening for the east, where he
will look after business matters.
Dvorsky to be Asst. Cashier - Ex-County Recorder
Accepts Position With New City Bank.
George Dvorsky, ex-county recorder, has accepted a position as
assistant cashier with the Commerical Savings Bank, of this city,
which has been organized and which will open soon. This choice by
the bank is regarded as a happy one in that Mr. Dvorsky has a
wide acquaintance over the county and has made for himself an
enviable reputation as a business man.

Rhodes Scholarship - The committee for the selection of the
Rhodes scholar met today in the office of President MacLean.
Those comprising the committee are President H.M. Bell of Drake,
President J.H. T. Main of Grinnell, President W.E. Parson of
Parsons, President James E. Harlan of Cornell and President
MacLean. The candidates are Jacob O.A. Larson, Luther; R.
Harriman, Grinnell; and John J. Huff, Muscatine.
