Minister Killed
Ottumwa, April 14 - Rev. B.F. Dunlavey, pastor of the Methodist
church at Chilicothe, was killed by a Burlington train last
night. He was crossing the track in a buggy, when, owing to some
unexplained cause, he failed to hear the approaching train. His
buggy was struck squarely by the engine and he was gound to
pieces. He was a prominent minister and his death has caused
profound sorrow.
Ready for Lynching.
Des Moines, April 15 - When it was learned this morning's
announcement that the negroes suspected of the murder of Lena and
Peter peterson had been removed from the city was a ruse
[illegible words] mob which immediately dispersed, another mob
surrounded the jail, but as yet not disorderly. Rifles have been
stored in the jail in preparation for an attack. All indications
point to an attempt to lynch the right person as soon as he is
found.
