IN A LINE OR TWO
- Max Jacobson returned last evening from near Salina where he has been
visiting his grandparents.
- Mr. and Mrs. Anton Christensen of Missouri Valley, Iowa, are here for a visit
with their son, Tony Carlson and family.
- I wish to announce that I am a painter and paper hanger by trade, and have
been engaged in the business for thirty-five years. I intend to help with work
at the garage, but I want to keep busy and would be glad to have a call from
you. Will follow the same policy as at the garage, giving every customer a
guarantee of satisfactory work. D.K. Miller.

ROUND PRAIRIE
- Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Bower were picking cherries at the Wright Church home
Monday morning.
- Mrs. Tom Litton planned and carried out a complete surprise for her daughter
Macil by inviting her cousins and friends from the Harrisburg neighborhood to
her home Saturday evening, and a most enjoyable time was spent by those present.
The ladies brought pies and the boys a pound of eats, so they had quite a
variety. Macil and her cousin, Madelon Church left Tuesday evening for Delayin,
where they will be gone all summer.
- Mrs. E.B. Litton and son Elery were picking strawberries at the Homer Bailey
home near Salina Tuesday.
- Mrs. Elery Litton is spending the week-end at the home of her parents Sylvanis
Watsons near Stockport.
- Mrs. Ralph Crane entertained the Thursday Club at her home last Thursday
afternoon and most all the members were present. A most enjoyable time was spent
during the afternoon meeting. At the close, they were served nice refreshments
of ice cream, strawberries and angel food cake.
- Mrs. Jay Barton was helping Mrs. Chester Elliott can cherries Monday. They
canned 26 quarts from one tree and didn't get them all picked, will finish them
Wednesday morning.
- The Lee family held their annual reunion at Saunder's grove in Mt. Pleasant
Sunday evening and a good crowd was present. At the noon hour a bountiful dinner
was served. Mrs. C.E. Lee accompanied her daughter, Mrs. D.S. Barton, home.
- Mr. and Mrs. Tom Litton and daughter spent Tuesday morning at the George Smith
home gathering strawberries.
- Dr. and Marguerette Mills of Ottumwa who have been on a motor trip to
Missouri, came by the way of their sisters, Mrs. J.L. Bower, Monday on their way
home. They spent Monday evening at the Walter Billingsley home and Tuesday with
their sister, Mrs. J.L. Bower.
- The Thursday Club planned a surprise on Mrs. Chester Elliott Monday evening by
inviting their families to spend the evening as Mrs. Elliott's birthday was on
Tuesday, but some way or other Mrs. Elliott was not surprised at the least. She
was looking for them. They brought with them ice cream and cookies and all
enjoyed the evening with them. Mr. and Mrs. Fred McElwee and son Thomas were
invited guests.
NEW SWEDEN
- Mrs. Sophia Trabert has returned to her home here from a visit at the home
of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Trabert near Donnellson.
- Evelyn and Pauline Nelson spent a few days last week with their grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Jacobson.
- Richard Walgren spent a few days last week with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Trabert in Lockridge.
- Bernard Jacobs is visiting at the home of his uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Miller,
near Fairfield.
- Ed. Craig of near Mt. Pleasant was in this vicinity last week shearing sheep.
BUILDING NEW HOME
Ed. Quick's new home is taking form and will soon be
enclosed.
When finished it will be a 2-story structure, 28x32 feet,
eight rooms and basement, and entirely modern. It is located in the same spot as
the old house, which was removed to make room for the new. Larson Bros. are
doing the work.
