ROUND PRAIRIE
- Mr. Bert Humphrey attended the funeral of his aunt, Mrs. Elizabeth Cottle,
in Fairfield Monday afternoon.
- Miss Irene Hudson returned to her home Sunday evening after spending the week
at the home of her aunt, Mrs. D.S. Barton and other relatives.
- Mrs. Burt Williamson spent Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edna
Church.
- Mrs. Bell Slaughter entertained the visiting circle at her home last Thursday.
A good number was present. Some had quite a time getting there as the tracks
were full of snow again but they enjoyed the day and the good dinner prepared by
Mrs. Slaughter.
- The Thursday Club and their families gave a farewell surprise on Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Barton last Friday evening. They took with them fresh oysters for their
supper and pickles and coffee. Mr. and Mrs. Barton will leave about March 1st
for the Harrisburg neighborhood, where they have rented one of the Hoaglin
farms.
- Mr. J.C. Frame has purchased a new Pontiac car.
- Mr. Thomas Litton planned and carried out a surprise on his wife last Friday
by inviting some of their near relatives in to spend the day. It was Mattie's
51st birthday and she had a quilt in the frame almost done. Was trying to get it
finished by noon, but about 11 o'clock the cars and sleds began to drive in and
unload and she was completely surprised, but they brought with them well filled
baskets of good eats, and at the noon hour the table was loaded. There were
thirty-five at dinner and all had a good time wishing her many more happy
birthdays. Her daughter Macil returned from her school to help finish up the
day.
NEW SWEDEN
- Mrs. E.A. Quick very pleasantly entertained the New Sweden Lutheran Ladies
Aid society at her home last Thursday afternoon. A nice size crowd was present.
- Ralph Smithburg sawed wood for Herman Achanbach last Saturday.
- Misses Pauline and Evelyn Nelson spent Saturday with their grandparents,
Mr.and Mrs. Jacobson.
