IN A LINE OR TWO

- Mrs. Joe Nelson called Tuesday morning on Mrs. Gussie Cody, who is quite ill.
- Harold Bogner is carrying his arm in a sling the result of hurting it while pitching hay.
- Mrs. Edd Peterson of Glenwood, Minn, visited Monday with her sister, Mrs. Hanna Overstrom.
- Mrs. Hanna Overstrom and Mrs. Edna Overstrom attended the Olson reunion at Saunders Grove, Mt. Pleasant, today.
- E.E. Tallman has bought the Schillerstrom 40 acres just south of the school house and will move as soon as he can get possession. The Switzer family have it leased until next March.

CORRESPONDENCE

ROUND PRAIRIE

- Miss Arminta Rose and brother Seth of Marion County spent the week end at the Thos. Litton home.
- Mr. and Mrs. Gregg Litton and daughter spent Sunday at the Mary Church home. Ray Church and family of Bonaparte were callers in the afternoon.
- Mr. and Mrs. Bunker and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Miller and daughter of near Salem spent Sunday at the home of their aunt, Mrs. E.B. Litton.
- The funeral of Mrs. Frank Hammons, who passed away at her home Friday morning was conducted by Guy Hunting at the Hickory Church Sunday morning. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery near by.
- Misses Amy and Mary Barton were Saturday evening callers at the Jefferson County Hospital to visit Irene Hudson who is a patient there.
- Mrs. Hattie Hollingworth, who has been staying at the Ed. Brokken home since the death of her sister, returned to her home Saturday, bringing her little niece Katherin with her.
- The Pleasant Hill School began Monday with Madelon Church as teacher.
- George Smith and family, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Metcalf, Thos. Litton and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kessel of Fairfield, Miss Arminta and Seth Rose of Marion County were entertained at the Frank Smith home Sunday.

LOG CABIN

- Mr. and Mrs. James Smith have returned from a visit at Melrose, Iowa, with Mrs. Smith's parents.
- Mrs. Howard Swailes and baby Shirley Ann are visiting at the parental Zihlman home before going to their new home at Osceola, Iowa, where Howard is employed as signal maintainer.

NEW SWEDEN

- Mrs. Sophia Trabert is visiting at the home of her son Lawrence Trabert and family at Donnelson.
- Rev. H.E. Butler of Fairfield conducted services at the New Sweden Methodist Church last Sunday evening.

SCHOULTZ-RIDGEWAY

    Friends of Verne Ridgeway are congratulating him upon his marriage to Edith Marie Schoultz, the ceremony taking place last Friday, September 7th.
    They expect to make their home in Fairfield where the groom is working at the Louden plant.

GOODALE CAR WRECKED

    Mrs. H.F. Goodale was in an auto accident Monday while driving from Iowa City to Lockridge. She had gone there to spend Sunday and was driving a light Ford truck.
    A traveling man, driving a Chevrolet, and Mrs. Goodale collided at a cross roads, and in addition to demolishing the Ford, Mrs. Goodale was quite badly shaken up and bruised to the extent that she required medical attention.

GARAGE CHANGES HANDS

    Clark & Norton have disposed of their interests in the garage business and J.N. Fink and A.F. Johnson have formed partnership and will operate the business in the big building which is owned by Johnson.
    Mr. Fink has been employed in Fairfield in the past, and is a competent mechanic. He has a wife and baby, and intends to make his home in Lockridge.
    Clark & Norton are moving their furniture and other equipment across the street to the "tin" shed, where they will conduct a furniture store and undertaking business, in addition to acting as selling agents for the Chevrolet car.

    The October term of district court will convene Monday, October 1, with Judge Wells of Chariton presiding. The following petit jurors have been drawn and will report on October 8:

    That on the 24th day of September, A.D., 1928, at 11 o'clock a.m., at the front door of the Court House, at Fairfield, Iowa, and county aforesaid, will be sold at Public Auction, to the highest bidder, for cash, the following described real property, levied upon and taken by virtue of a Special Execution issued from the office of the Clerk of the District Court, within and for the County of Jefferson, State of Iowa, in favor of J.E. Hull, and against the property of Mary J. Damm, et al.
    To-wit: 36 3/4 acres or less off of the South part of the East half of the Northeast Quarter of Section No. Thirty-one (31), in Township No. Seventy-two (72), North of Range No. Eight (8) West, and bounded on the North by the line of the right of way of the C.B. & Q.R.R. Co.
    Or as much thereof as may be necessary to satisfy said writ and all accruing costs.
