- The Round Prairie Ladies' Aid served lunch at the Jessie Chezum sale and took in over $8.
- Macil Litton is recovering from an attack of the grip.
- Mrs. Ella Tilford of Salem spent Thursday and Friday with her son Cloa.
- Maggie Sinn & son of Fairfield spent the week with her parents Mr. and Mrs. William McGuire.
- L.A. Bowers' son is sick with the measles.

COUNTY NEWS

Glendale.
- Mrs. W.R. Smith was called to Ruskin, Neb. Thursday on account of the serious illness of her sister, Mrs. J.R. Parsons.
- Hiram Heaton moved to his new house that he recently built after living at his old home sixty-five years ago.
- Miss Lydia Monson is spending a week at the parental Oscar Monson home.
- The funeral of little Thelma Horton was held at the home Sunday at 2 p.m.
- The Parsonville Ladies' Aid met at the home of Mrs. W.R. Smith Wednesday.
- George Parsons is through sowing oats.

Salina.
- The shower given last week at the hall in honor of Albert Rosequist and wife was well attended and they received a number of fine presents. Delicious refreshments were served.
- Alvin Kilgore is dodging around in a new auto. They went to Fairfield Monday accompanied by Mrs. Nettie Hickenbottom.
- Miss Alma Schutz is spending a few days with her sister, Mrs. Charles Gilson, at Fairfield.

Merrimac.
- Carl Emerine is on the sick list.
- Louis Norton moved on a farm near Washington Monday.
- Friends and relatives to the number of fifty gathered at the home of Simon Baldosier Saturday evening and gave Simon and his bride a shower. Refreshments of sandwiches, pickles, cake and fruit salad were served. All left wishing Mr. and Mrs. Baldosier many happy years of wedded life.
- Word has been received here of the death of Fred Wendling at Cozad, Neb. He was an old settler of this community and will be remembered by many of his friends.

Happy Hollow.
- Guy Hillman was seen passing through Happy Hollow Saturday with the pianola which Elmer Smithburg purchased for $400. We hear the money will be used to improve and beautify the city of Four Corners.
- Charles and William Swanson have been busy the last few days sowing oats.
- The Farmers jolly dancing club will have another dance April 7th at the Lockridge hall.
- Mr. and Mrs. Anthon Zihlman were in Mt. Pleasant last Thursday to attend the wedding of Mrs. Zihlman's sister.

Germanville.
- Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Haifley, March 25th, a 10-pound boy.
- Mr. and Mrs. Chris Bamgartner celebrated their forty-first wedding anniversary March 26th.
- Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Kurtz and family were callers at the Jacob Kessel home near East Pleasant Plain Sunday.
- Mrs. George Diers is on the sick list.
- Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mandhart motored to Fairfield Sunday to get their daughter Oasy, who is ill.
- William Stortz is on the sick list.

Round Prairie.
- Mrs. Gus Peterson is spending the week in Fairfield visiting her sister, Mrs. Nora Workman.
- John Wilson passed away Tuesday morning at 2 o'clock at his home where he lived for sixty-seven years. He was 86 years of age at the time of his death. The funeral was held at the Baptist church Wednesday afternoon and burial took place at the Lambert cemetery. Rev. Jonathan Lee preached the funeral.
- Word has been received here of the death of Lonzo Watson in Texas.
- Will Crane's smoke house was destroyed by fire Saturday night.
- Esther Featerman was called to Burlington last Friday on account of the illness of her  brother.
- Mrs. Dan Doan underwent an operation at the Ottumwa hospital last Saturday morning and is reported to be getting along nicely.
- Several of the neighbors gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Amel Hess last Saturday evening and left them with many nice and useful presents.
- Mr. and Mrs. Ed Williamson spent a couple of days last week at the parental Willis home.

Cedar Ford.
- Mr. and Mrs. Leander Lyon are the proud parents of a baby girl that arrived March 21st.
- Mr. and Mrs. Tom Simmons and son Leo visited over Sunday at the parental David Gates home.
- Mrs. Joe Dilly of Mt. Pleasant returned home Sunday after a visit at the parental Lillyblade home.

New Sweden.
- Earl Walgren met with a serious accident last Saturday morning, when he had his right thumb amputated with a wood saw. Dr. Sherlock was called and then Dr. James of Fairfield was called and took his thumb off at the second joint. Earl is improving nicely.
- A.F. Arnold sawed wood for Amos Edmund, Lewis Achenbach and Ed Craff last weekend.
- William Turner sawed wood for Ed Nelson, Victor Jacobson and Wesley Walgren this week.
