John Lascher, an employee at Underly's saw mill at Canton, met
with a serious accident the first of last week. He was carrying
lumber from the saw when a pile of slabs fell over causing him to
throw one of hands on the saw. Dr. J. O. Ristine, of Iron Hills,
was called and upon examination he found that the hand had been
torn off at the wrist and it was necessary to amputate the arm
below the elbow. The accident was a most unfortunate one as Mr.
Lascher was a hard working man with a family to support. He
carried a life insurance policy of $2,000, one fourth of which he
will receive for the loss of his hand.
