DEATH OF A PIONEER
Judge H. B. Hendershott died at Ottumwa aged 84 years. He was a
pioneer of Iowa, having resided in Wapello county since 1844. He
served the state as commissioner to adjust the dispute over the
boundary line between Missouri and Iowa. As judge of the district
court he organized Wapello county. In 1850 he was elected to the
senate and assisted in forming the code of 1851.
