Capt. J. Murray Hoag
Capt. J. Murray Hoag and George Hayes returned home from St.
Louis last week well pleased with their success at the great
fair. They had twenty superb ponies on exhibition, three of which
were sold, and of the six generous prizes offered by the
management, Capt. Hoags ponies captured five. A large
number of the ponies are now at the Chicago Horse Show, where
they will undoubtedly capture the greater portion of the prizes.
Joseph Cuddy
Joseph Cuddy, the Clinton man who swindled a number of people and
succeeded in mixing himself with the estate of the late Mott
Watson, was given seven and one half years imprisonment in the
Anamosa penitentiary by Judge Wolfe at Clinton Friday. The forger
took his sentence with the utmost unconcern.
Tubbs-Burleson Marriage
Dr. W. E. Tubbs, the popular dentist of Bellevue and son of Mr.
and Mrs. George Tubbs of this city and Miss Meda Burleson,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burleson of Buckhorn, will be
married at the brides home tomorrow evening. The
contracting parties are deservedly popular young people who
number as friends all who know them.
