Hon. J. W. Miles was very much surprised this week to receive an
official document from Gov. Frank Jackson informing him of his
appointment as delegate to attend the National Farmers and
Pan-American Congress to be held at Atlanta, Georgia, October
10th to 16th, 1895. This high compliment was unsought and
unexpected, but Mr. Miles appreciates it, and will atend,
accompanied by his wife, daughter and son. - Miles Reporter
Battle of Legal Giants
The Hon. Walter I. Hayes, of Clinton, was in town Monday on legal
business. He has been retained by C. H. Reynolds to assist the
Hon G. L. Johnson in the case of Reynolds vs. Reynolds which will
come on for hearing in the September term of the Jackson District
Court. It will be remembered that Mrs. Blanche Reynolds some time
ago commenced an action asking for separate support and
maintenance. In all probability Mr. Reynolds will file a cross
bill praying for absolute divorce. We understand that Messrs. D.
A. Wynkoop and L. A. Ellis will appear for Mrs. Reynolds. If so,
this case will be a battle of the legal giants of Jackson and
Clinton counties and will cost lots of money.
