First White Woman Settler Dies
Mrs. Hannah Efferding, the first white woman who ever settled in
Tete Des Morts township, died at the home of her son, Louis,
about four miles north of town, yesterday evening. Mrs. Efferding
came to Tete Des Morts with her late husband Louis in 1838.
