DIED
Timothy Madden was buried by the Odd Fellows of this city Friday
afternoon. The funeral occurred two days sooner than first
intended on account of the weather being unfavorable for holding
the corpse. Now that the body is in the ground it is of interest
to know what property deceased had and what disposal has been
made or will be made of it. When he left Maquoketa some nine or
ten years ago he was known to have several thousand dollars in
money and notes which he took with him for investment. By enquiry
of his friend, D. S. Haight, he informs us that after his death
$1,500 in gold was found among his papers; that he owned some
mining stock and was proprietor of a large boarding house. Mr.
Haight does not know what the estate is valued at and does not
know whether he made a will or not, but he has been promised by
Leadville lawyers a full explanation of the condition of his
affairs at an early date, which will be furnished the Sentinel
for publication.
MARRIED
Trout - Wilbur
Br Rev. S. F. Millikan, 5:45 a.m., Tuesday, January 5th, 1885, at
the residence of Thomas Wilbur, George W. Trout and Grace Wilbur,
of Maquoketa. The Wedding was a quiet affair, only the near
relatives being present. The ceremony was performed at an early
hour to enable the happy couple to take the morning passenger
train east for a wedding tour. They return in the course of a few
days, and will at once begin housekeeping in an already furnished
suite of rooms over Mr. Trouts hardware store. The groom is
well known as one of our most prosperous and energetic young
business men, the eldest son of Mr. Thomas Trout, whom he
succeeds in the hardware trade. The bride is accomplished and
handsome daughter of Thomas Wilbur, Esq. and her kind and
cheerful disposition and mature judgment, will make her queen of
the household. The Sentinel wishes them happiness and abundant
prosperity.
