Bishop Hennessy Injured
A distressing accident occurred to Bishop Hennessy at his home in
Dubuque, about noon last Wednesday. He was descending a winding
stairway when his foot slipped, and he fell breaking his right
leg about four inches above the ankle. The fracture is severe and
he also received other bruises. The best surgical aid in the city
was called at once, and it will take skillful attention to save
the strength of the limb. The patient will probably be confined
to his room for some time to come. His legion of friends and
co-workers in the church will hear with deep regret the news of
this misfortune of their Bishop, who commands their love and
highest esteem
Thomas Gordon

Gordons Ferry landing, died at his home in Boone, Iowa, on
the 13th inst., aged 80 years. His remains were brought back to
Galena for interment last Friday. The deceased came to Galena in
1839, and removed from thence to Boone about ten years ago. Mr.
Gordon was a good and honest man, and was highly esteemed by all
who knew him.
