Christmas Occasion of Many Family Gatherings
As usual family gatherings were predominate among all events on Christmas day. Among those held in Humboldt and vicinity, which were reported to the newspaper were as follows:

Mrs. P. J. Kendall of Dakota City, entertained the following guests on Christmas day: Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Harrington and two daughters, Mrs. Laura Pettibone and Mrs. Eva Hicks, all of Fort Dodge; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Hitsman and three sons of Boone; and granddaughter, Margie Green of Peace River, Alberta, Canada, who attends school here.

Guests at the Mrs. Delilah Rapple home for Christmas dinner Tuesday were Verna Christensen of Humboldt, and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Pavey of Rutland.

A Christmas dinner at the Dick Dickerson home was attended by the following guests, Mr. and Mrs. Will Dickerson, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Hawkins and son, Lloyd Smith, and Mrs. Mollie Ward, all of this vicinity, and Fred Ward of Fargo, North Dakota.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Marcellus entertained Mr. and Mrs. Harold Saxton and daughter Lois of Renwick, and Marion Saxton of Mason City at Christmas dinner which was served Sunday.

A family gathering was held at the Thomas Sawyer home in Dakota City Christmas day. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sawyer of Dakota City, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Strom and son Eugene of Fort Dodge, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Watson and son Richard of Alta were present.

Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Sheeley and children were guests at Christmas dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Logan Sheeley in Dakota City.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ehmke and daughter Esther Ehmke entertained Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Olson of near Bode, and Carl Ehmke and family of southwest of Humboldt at dinner on Christmas day.

Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Spayde and Alice Lowder and Frank were dinner guests Christmas day at the Roy Lowder home.

A potluck dinner at the Carl Echelberger home Christmas night was enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Sneefus, Mr. and Mrs. Del Morgan and family, and Grace Morgan of Mason City.

Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Benz and children of Waterloo, and Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Noble and children of Sioux City, were Christmas dinner guests at the L. L. Crittenden home.

Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Boothroyd and the Keith Haynes family were Christmas dinner guests at the Will Wendle home.

Members of the Hoag family enjoyed a Christmas dinner at the parental W. C. Hoag home in Humboldt.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Rollins, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Triplett of Des Moines, and Earl Lockwood were Christmas dinner guests at the Lou Shockley home. Mrs. Triplett was formerly Beth Shockley.

Mr. and Mrs. O. H. DeGroote entertained at a Christmas dinner. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Miller of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brown and two daughters of Norfolk, Nebr., Grace DeGroote of Cedar Rapids, and Marianne Lieuwen of Humboldt.

Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Ludwig and Mrs. Fred Fairman were dinner guests Christmas day at the H. W. McCauley home.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fraser and son Dale and daughter Mary, and Mrs. Mary Johnston were dinner guests Christmas day at the R. F. Oestrich home.

Mrs. Floy Anderson and daughter and Mrs. John Sampson and Bertha were Christmas dinner guests at the J. F. Miller home.

On Christmas eve Mr. and Mrs. Ray Askland, Sr., entertained the members of their family and children. Guests were Ed Askland and family of Thor, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Askland and baby and Charlie Askland of Fort Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Royal Christensen and daughter of Humboldt, and Mr. and Mrs. James Skow of Dakota City.

Arthur Mille and family were Christmas dinner guests at the Walter Christensen home north of Rutland.

Carl Flemmig and family of Renwick and Ed Dyvig and family of Gilmore City, were Christmas dinner guests at the H. S. Stone home.

Mr. and Mrs. John Green and son were Christmas dinner guests at the S. Brockman home. Mr. and Mrs. George Beck were supper guests and spent the evening at the Brockman home.

Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Knieriem entertained at Christmas dinner for Mrs. Wilda Elliott of Minneapolis, Mrs. Levon Plymate and daughter of Council Bluffs, Vesta Knieriem of Mason City, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Moen and daughter Darlene of Fort Dodge, and Wilbur Elliott of Minneapolis.

Mr. and Mrs. Will Buckingham and family of Dakota City, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Chamberlin were Christmas dinner guests at the Elmer Glass home in Humboldt.

Mr. and Mrs. Perry Morse and daughter and Mrs. Nora Boothroyd were Christmas dinner guests at the Mrs. Myra Goodrich and Elmer Lindhart home.

Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Hulsizer and daughter, Donna Lee, William Hulsizer of Des Moines, and Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Susang of Des Moines, were Christmas dinner guests at the Chas. Kurth home.

Mr. and Mrs. Will Pinney and Mrs. Cassie Scott were Christmas dinner guests at the John Fleming home.

Those who enjoyed a Christmas dinner at the James DeSmidt home included Lucy, Anna, Frances, and John DeSmidt, Gladys and Harold DeSmidt, Mrs. Mary Smith of Clarion, Stanley Madsen and Mike Peterson.
