Family Dinners and Parties Feature Christmas Celebration in Humboldt

Interests of the people of Humboldt were centered in their homes over the week end with Christmas dinners and parties and family reunions featuring Sunday and Monday. Although it was impossible to obtain a complete list of the family gatherings on Christmas, the following were reported:

A family party was held Christmas day at the Garfield home with Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Garfield and Mrs. Mary Garfield entertaining Judge Ted Garfield and family who are visiting here from Ames, and several other relatives from Humboldt.

Mrs. Ella Rollins entertained the Dick Munson, Charles Rollins and Lou Shockley families at her home for Christmas dinner. Beth Shockley, student nurse of Des Moines, and a friend of Des Moines, were also guests.

Mrs. F. L. Bowen entertained members of her family at Christmas dinner Monday noon. Her guests included Mr. and Mrs. Milton Buck and children, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Bowen and children, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lindeman and children, and Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Jackson and children.

Members of the Thompson family gathered at the home of Mrs. Gay Thompson in Humboldt on Christmas day for a family party. Dewey Morse and family and W. H. Volberding and family were guests.

Mr. and Mrs. I. O. Olson were entertained on Christmas day at the O. S. Olson home at Thor.

Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Lowder entertained a group of ten relatives at dinner on Christmas day. The occasion also honored the birthday of their daughter Johana Lee. Gretchen Harvey of Grand Meadow, Minn., was an out of town guest.

Members of the H. H. Mayer family and the K. K. Mayer family of Badger, enjoyed Christmas dinner at the J. H. Mayer home in Humboldt.

A family reunion was held at the Thomas Sawyer home in Dakota City on Christmas day. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Hagen and son of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Strom and Eugene of Fort Dodge, and Harold Sawyer and family of Dakota City.

Mrs. Mary Flemming entertained her children at a Christmas dinner at her home in Dakota City, Sunday. Frances and Amil Flemmig, Cyrus Flemmig and family, and Carl Flemmig and family of Renwick and Miss Grace Flemmig were present.

Hans Hanson and son Harold, Fred Hanson, Chris Hanson and Louis Hanson and families, all from near Humboldt, gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Will Hanson Saturday and enjoyed a pot-luck Christmas eve supper, and the usual Christmas festivities in the evening.

Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Chambard entertained Mr. and Mrs. Hosmer Law of Parkridge, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Darst of Princeton, Ill., and Mrs. Jennie Law of our city, at Christmas dinner Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Fleming entertained Mr. and Mrs. Fred Felming of Livermore at a Christmas dinner Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Friday entertained Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Saddoris of Dakota City, and Mr. and Mrs. Wendel Friday and daughter Blanche and son Irwin of near Renwick, at Christmas dinner Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Dick Dickerson and children entertained Mrs. Mary Ward and Lloyd Smith, of Dakota City, at a dinner Christmas noon.

Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Weyer and family entertained Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Cusey and family, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Weyer and son Curtis, Harold Smith and Howard Dasch of near Hardy, at a Christmas dinner Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Christiansen entertained F. E. Hoffman of Webb, L. J. Cuthbert and family of Sioux Rapids, and Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Christensen of Linn Grove, at a noon dinner Christmas day.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pollock entertained Harry Pollock and family of near Livermore at Christmas dinner.
