Mrs. and Mrs. A. B. Jessup and Mrs. Ira Jessup and little son of Long Beach, California, arrived here early Monday morning for a visit of several weeks with Wayland friends. The pleasure of their arrival was somewhat marred by the serious illness of Mr. Jessup's mother, Mrs. Kate Jessup, who recently returned from spending the winter with them at Long Beach.
Mr.
and Mrs. H. H. Hulme, Mrs. W. E. Boller and son, George, Mrs. M. W. Baumgartner
and baby and Mrs. Mamye Swartzendruber visited at the pleasant country home of
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hulme in the Finley neighborhood last Friday afternoon. Mrs.
Hulme served homemade ice cream, cake, and coffee to her guests.
Miss Vivian Allen and Mrs. Lelya Graber were hostesses at a very pretty shower at the home of the former on Tuesday evening in honor of Miss Imogene Young, a June bride-to-be. The guests, numbering 18, comprised the members of the Golden Glow Club of which Miss Yount is a member, also a few other friends. The evening was spent in games and social time. During the evening the guest of honor was asked to open a cedar chest where she found many pretty gifts of china brought by the guests. Later the hostesses served a delicious two course luncheon, the first course consisting of pressed chicken sandwiches, Lenten Salad, olives. The second course consisted of brick ice cream, angel food cake, coffee and mints. The house was beautifully decorated in yellow and white streamers and flowers. This color scheme being carried out also in the menu. At a later hour the guests departed wishing the bride to be much happiness.
