Miss Anna SCHAFER has started the west hill school at Burlington.

Mrs. SHAFER after a long and serious illness is able to get around again.

J.G. NEWBOLD was looking after some business matters at Wayland on Thursday
last.

Miss Minnie WARWICK of Grand Island, Neb. is visiting her relatives and
friends here.

Mr. Sydney GOEMBLE, of Geneseo, Ill., was looking after some business
matters in this city yesterday.

Mr C.C. DEAN of Zola, Mo., and a former resident of this city is the guest
of Mr E.P. GARRETSON.

Judge WITHROW will adjourn court this evening.

Mr. W.F. KOPP is in Burlington this afternoon.

Mr. Wm. MELCHER is in Burlington this afternoon.

Miss TURNEY left this noon for Keokuk and Quincy.

Mr. J.H. ROGERS of Oakland Mills was in town today.

Mr. Frank PORTER was an east bound passenger this noon.

Mrs. Grace HUSTON returned this noon from Ottumwa.

The Q office was checked out today by a travelling auditor.

Rev. Thos. DYAL left this noon for Sioux Falls, S. Dakota.

Attorney H.A. AMBLER is in Burlington this afternoon.

Mr. C.C.DEAN returned this noon to his home in Missouri.

Mr. BYERS of New London left today for Tacoma, Washington.

Mr. Geo. McADAM is visiting relatives at Washington, Iowa.

Mr. Herman MEINBERG of Keokuk is in the city for a few days.

Mr. W.M. BARTLETT left last night on a business trip to St. Louis.

Mr. LONG a farmer living north of town left today for Helena, Mont.

Mrs. ESHELMAN is in Chicago selecting her spring stock of millinery.

Mr. Jas. HARRISON of the Burlington secret service was in the city today.

Mr. F.E. HALEY of Des Moines spent Sunday in the city with friends.

Mr. Harry CLAUSON and son Frank of New London are in the city today.

The friends of Mr J.H. KELLAR are very much pleased to see him about again.

Mr and Mrs DANA of Burlington spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs Fred CRANE.

Mr. W.E. KOELER will be elected school treasurer, he having no opposition.

Mr. Frank CRANE left today for Wapello whre he works for Judge SMYTHE.

Commencing tonight the Rev. O.W. ROGERS will being a new series of revival
meetings.

Rev. POWELSON left this noon for Burlington where he assists in a series of
meetings.

Rev. F.G. BEARDSLEY of Salem is in this city assisting Rev. O.W. ROGERS with
his meetings.

Mr. C.M. CLARK has had his North Jefferson street grocery freshly papered
and painted.

Mr. Louis CRANE left this morning for Aurora, Illinois, where he has
accepted a lucrative position.
