The Prof ADAMS property on North Main street can be had at a big bargain

Mrs. Edith MARSH returned from Burlington yesterday. She was accompanied by
her niece Miss Edith ZALSER who comes up for a visit with relatives here.
Hereafter no mail matter except letters will be forwarded from one address
to another without pre-payment of postage. The order includes newspapers and
packages of all kinds.
Last evening while playing blackman, little Leslie VIRDEN, son of Mr. John
VIRDEN fell and broke his left collar bone. About a year ago he had the
misfortune to break the right one.
Everett SWANSON of Olds, rode home yesterday with a new Maroon Crescent
bicycle. The boys around Olds and Swedesburg must about all ride Crescents
judging from the number BARTLET has sent up there.
Mr. Bert COOPER who was sentenced to the penitentiary for eighteen months
for the seduction of a BROWN girl near Salem returned this noon having
served out his time. He left on the afternoon train for Salem where his
parents live. He is looking well.
The Misses HOBART, gave a very pleasant 5 o'clock tea last evening to some
fourteen of their young lady friends. The refreshments were dainty and
delicious and most delightfully served. With such pleasant surroundings no
one could help but have a good time.
Montezuma Democrat: When Iowa democracy has degenerated so that Judge W.I.
BABB is considered "off color" by his party, and the renegade, George
L
FINN, is accepted as a true-blue democrat, the sensible men of the party may
well be excused for voting the republican ticket-tariff and all.
Complaint has been made to the Mayor that the Central school yard is a
nuisance. The weeds are high and uncut and a stream of fever breeding filth
is going from the outhouses, endangering the health of the entire community.
If the school board declines to make any change the city authorities should
take quick action.
The case of the state vs Bert CLAWSON, charged with an assault on John HILL,
came up before Justice VAN BEEK this morning. CLAWSON waived examination,
and was bound over to the grand jury under $1000 bonds, which was given. It
is understood that no other informations will be filed against him, and that
the present one will hardly come to trial.
