Mr. J.H. TRIBBY, of Salem, left this morning for West Branch to attend the
Quaker Yearly meeting.

TRENTON NOTES.
Trenton, Oct. 14th, 1895-(Correspondence)....Mr Fred BURKEY is building a
new house west of town.....Mr and Mrs H NEWKUM have a nice baby girl at
their home.....Mrs. E ERNST visited last week with relatives in your
city.....Miss Rebecca HITE who has been in Stockport taking medical
treatment, returned home Saturday.....Mrs. Ward TURNEY spent Sunday with her
parents, Mr and Mrs Robert KELLY...Miss Jessie SALZMAN of Fairfield spent
Sunday with her aunt, Miss Lydia ROTH.....Mr Chas GREEN spent Sunday with
his mother, Mrs. Jane GREEN, Ed MOORE and family visited relatives here
recently.....Mr and Mrs PURDY visited Sunday with Mr and Mr Joe
McCRAY.....Mrs. Peter ROTH who has been quite sick is improving.

SWEDESBURG NOTES.
Swedesburg, Ia., Oct. 14th, '95. (Correspondence) Prof C.M. CRABTREE has
again organized a singing school here, making this the third time in less
than a year.....The revival now held at Union proves interesting, and in
general, have been well attended. The meetings are held in a commodious tent
40x60.....

NEW LONDON NOTES.
New London, Ia., Oct. 14 (Correspondence) The following township ticket was
placed in nomination at the republican primary which was held in the city
hall: Thomas CLEMENS, trustee: A. D. HAYES, justice of the peace; John
O'LAUGHLIN, constable; Wilford WALLER acted as chairman of the primary and
VH SHIELDS secretary.....Bert CRABB now playes a tenor slide trombone horn
in the band. He is the first person in our city who has ever attempted to
manipulate this difficult instrument.....Mr S.B. BACON, a generous patron of
the Sun, who brings Hiram the choicest of spring chickens, new potatoes,
etc., deposited at the office Saturday two samples of beets weighing twelve
and fifteen pounds respectfully. The are to form part of the feast that will
be made ready when the 103 lb pumpkin, lately received by the editor, is
made into a pie.....In conformity to a custom in practice for several years,
the ladies of the M.E. church spread a genuine old-fashioned New England
supper at the hospitable home of Mr and Mrs Wells ANDREWS Thursday evening.
A large number of young people from town went out and enjoyed the
festivities of the evening.....Mrs A D ANDREWS very pleasantly entertained
the ladies of the Presbyterian ladies missionary society at dinner
Thursday...Dan DeLONG of Clarinda is the guest of Miss BLUE.....

VEGA NOTES.
VEGA, Ia., Oct 14, '95. (Correspondence) Our Sunday school was reorganized
at Union church Sunday. The following named persons were elected as
officers: Mr E.C. YOUNG, Supt. T.H. BARTON, Assistant Supt., Miss Lydia
HUSS, Sec. Mr. Ralph CRANE, Treas., Miss Nellie CRANE, Librarian, Manly
*razel, Chorister...Rev Geo BERRY of Stansbury, Mo., preached at the Union
church Sunday and Sunday evening.....Mr George W DAVIS, of Louisa county,
discussed the political issues from a populist standpoint, it is said, to
three voters and a few small boys at Pleasant Hill Wednesday evening....Mr C
B CRANE has purchased a new organ of W F DAUGHERTY & Son, of your
city.....Mr John MONTGOMERY and wife of Pleasant Point, attended services at
the Union church Sunday.....Mr Fred YAKLE, of Bloomfield, Ia., was
transacting business in the neighborhood last week.....Mr A J OBERG, of
Stockport, visited his sister, Mrs. C.O. SWAN, Sunday.....Bennie EDWARDS is
very sick at present with typhoid fever.....
