Salem Notes
SALEM, IA., Aug 12, '95-(Correspondence). Grant STRIEBY has moved his tailor
shop to the room formerly occupied by Miss Nellie DeLASHMUTT as a millinery
store.....Mrs. Maude PIERCE and two children visited friends in Salem this
week.....Mrs. L.A. WITHROW will soon visit her daughter, Mrs. Sabelle GYDE
in Idaho.....Miss Grace WILMETH is visiting in Hillsboro.....Miss Nellie
DeLASHMUTT has returned from her visit in Missouri.....Misses Mable and
Aggie ARNOLD of Mt Pleasant are visiting in and near Salem.....Miss Eva
WELPTON, the Salem Y.P.C.U. delegate to Boston, gave her report last
Sunday.....Fred TOWNSTEAD and Charlie CARLISLE spent Sunday in Mt. Pleasant.

Vega Notes.
VEGA, Ia., Aug. 12, '95.-(Correspondence)-An enthusiastic primary convention
was held at Oakland Mills Saturday evening to select five delegates to
attend the county convention.....Mr. Albert MORROW and wife of Doud's
Station, Iowa, visited the family of C.B. CRANE Saturday and Sunday.....Mrs.
Belle FAUKNER of Mt. Pleasant visited her brother William ELLIOTT
Sunday.....Mr. Frank HOLLY and employee of the Q.R.R. Co. and Mr. Alley
HOLLEY and family of Rome visited their parents Mr. and Mrs. W.S. HOLLEY
Sunday.....The people all wonder why Charles BAUSMAN moves around so quickly
and looks so pleasing. But it is all explained when they are told it is a
girl baby.....Mr. C.B. LEE has sold his farm to T.H. BARTON and we are
informed that B.F. EDWARDS has contracted for the Jerry CAVINESS
farm.....Company M Fourth Iowa Cavalry will hold a reunion Aug 28 at the
Grove of August WALGREEN, one of the officers of the regiment near Four
Corners about 14 miles northwest of Mt Pleasant. Rev J. LEE will deliver an
address to the survivors of the company and the large gathering  of people
that is expected to be present. ....Charles EDWARDS left on a business trip
to Rogers, Oklahoma last week.....Mr. B.L. ALLENDER from north of Mt
Pleasant, and a gentle[man] from near Salem were through this neighborhood
last week buying stock cattle.
