BARRETT GOES TO HAMBURG

The people of Hamburg and vicinity were not much more surprised than Bruce Welch is with the announcement that he has sold his store. He had not contemplated anything of the kind, was well pleased with Hamburg and his situation in general, but the opportunity came along and he seized it.On Monday morning the deal was closed, the purchaser being M.J. Barrett, of Greeley, Colorado. An invoice will be made beginning on the 24th inst., and its completion the store will be turned over to the new proprietor.Mr. Barrett is in the city and expects his wife and two little boys to arrive within a day or two. He is a pleasing gentleman to meet, and appears to have the snap to keep up the record at the Leader. He was raised at Dunlap, and attended school at Shenandoah some years ago. He has relatives of his name in business at Dunlap; where they have been very successful for many years. He also has a fine farm near Dunlap, and he wishes to get into business near enough to that place, so he could look after his interests there to some extent. On arriving here Mr. Barrett was quite surprised to find his cousin, J.A. Henney, already located here in the grocery business. Mr. Henney also had a share in the surprise.Hamburg Republican
